The federal government has met with the security chiefs on community policing with a view to addressing spate of kidnappings and killings in the country.
The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo made this known while paying a condolence visit to Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Pa Fasoranti’s fifty-eight year old daughter, Mrs. Olufunke Olakunrin was murdered by unknown gunmen on Lagos-Ore highway on Friday last week.
The Vice President who arrived the Elder statesman’s residence alongside his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Senator Obafemi Ojudu and Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State at ten past nine in the morning said the police would be trained and posted to their respective Local Government Areas for intelligence gathering.
Professor Osinbajo who described the incident as tragic, said more military presence and helicopters would be deployed on the roads to ensure better security of lives and property of citizens.
The Vice President who also sympathized with the husband of the deceased, Mr. Idowu Olakunrin gave an assurance of government’s commitment to making the current ugly situation a thing of the past.
Shortly, after the departure of the Vice President and his entourage, the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Tinubu also arrived the Fasoranti residence.
